As part of our commitment to fostering wellbeing at Pimpama SSC, we recently launched “Sing it LIVE!“, a singing competition open to all students and staff.
The event took place during the First and Second Breaks on Thursday and Friday of Week 8, offering everyone a chance to showcase their talents.
Participants in the inaugural competition included Mr. Thompson (Music Department), Mr. Lamb (Humanities Department), Zachery (Yr 12), Joshua (Yr 12), Zharnae (Yr 10), Raphaella (Yr 10), Kenji (Yr 10), Jah-Reil (Yr 10), Mikaela (Yr 9), Awatea (Yr 7), Evelyn (Yr 7), and Lorelai (Yr 7).
Contestants were judged on voice quality, voice control, crowd engagement, and showmanship.
The variety of songs spanned artists and genres, including Bob Dylan, Mario, Sticky Fingers, Hamilton: The Musical, and The Greatest Showman, with performances featuring a mix of backing tracks and live guitar.
The event was a major success, with students and staff showing incredible support for the performers. It takes immense courage and confidence to sing in front of 200-300 peers during a school lunch event.
The Grand Finale is scheduled for Friday, Week 9 of this term.
Finalists include Zachery & Josh (duet), Zharnae & Raphaella (duet), Mikaela (solo), Evelyn (solo), and Awatea (solo).
Special thanks to Mr. Thompson and Mr. Lamb for representing the teaching staff with their impressive harmonica and guitar performances.
We’re also excited to announce a special guest for The Grand Finale: Mr. Scott, an Elvis specialist, who is sure to be a highlight of the event.
Additionally, we extend our gratitude to our audio team, Mr. Jackson and Mr. MacQueen, for their unwavering support and expertise.
